I have been in the fitness industry all my life. My father owned a health club when I was growing up and I helped to run the place. In high school I taught group exercise classes and played field hockey, ran track, and was a cheerleader. Knowing that I wanted a career in health and fitness, I chose Penn State University to study kinesioIogy. As a student I worked as an assistant manager of a popular health club, taught group exercise classes, and became a personal trainer.
With a B.S. in Exercise and Sport Science, I took a job as the Program Director of the Williamsport YMCA. I worked there for nearly 4 years before moving back to State College and running the YMCA in the town of my alma mater. I worked at the State College YMCA until I had my first child. When Jack was born I decided to work part-time as the program coordinator at East Coast Health and Fitness. I currently still work there, but now only as a group exercise instructor.
In 2003 I became a single mother to Jack, Mariel, and Nick. Being my children's mom is my most valued job, but I needed to provide enough income to keep food in their bellies and a roof over our head. I decided to try and make a living at what I love the most; personal training. This has been the best decision of my life. I now have the flexibility to work around my children's schedules and actually make a living doing what I love.
I am certified by the American College of Sports Medicine, American Council on Exercise, and as a Spinning ® instructor. I have completed the Marine Corp Marathon in 2000 and 2005 and the Pittsburgh Marathon in 2002.
Currently, I enjoy hiking and mountain biking with my husband and going Geocaching with my children (as well as racing scooters, playing backyard volleyball and badminton, and H-O-R-S-E basketball in our driveway).
